Artist Statement
Modern world lacks spirituality and purity of senses. Only art can bring them back to us. I am deeply convinced that modern art should follow classical traditions of the old masters whose work is full of passion and emotional power. My art is representational, though I often employ the methods of abstract expressionists (including 'dripping', 'finger' techniques, spray paint, collage) at the initial steps of creating a painting. My style is a step away from abstraction into representational art, which I ultimately consider as a step forward into the art future, an attempt to rediscover a way-out into sublimity and beauty. I seek meaning and expression through contrasts of light and shade, colors and rhythm. I like flashes and highlights in Nature, which I try to organize into spiritual compositions. Most of my paintings were conceived and should be understood in this way. The mediums used are oil, acrylic and ink.
